Meet Bob

“It is an honor for me to seek the Office of State Representative for District 179 which includes much of Glynn County. My roots in our community run very deep. In 1960, my father was transferred to the local Georgia State Patrol Post and my mother began work as a seamstress at Brunswick Manufacturing.

As a young boy, the lure of moving to Brunswick was shared by my father who said the beach would be in our “backyard.” Upon arriving at our rental house on R Street, I ran to the back only to find a large hedgerow of bamboo. When I asked why there’s not a beach back there, he responded, ‘Son, it’s just nine miles away at Jekyll Island.’ Glynn County was now home!

I attended local schools and graduated with Brunswick High School’s first class in 1970. I earned an Associate Degree from Brunswick Junior College and completed my undergraduate studies at Southern Tech, a Division of Georgia Tech.”

A career in management and consulting for domestic and international companies.

“I worked in consulting, construction and senior management for public and investor-owned utilities during much of my career. I was involved in major construction projects, customer operations, governmental affairs and utility rights of way management. Plus, the design of industrial utility systems for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities.

I also managed utility resources for disaster response and service restoration in multiple states following ice storms, tornadoes and hurricanes, working closely with local and regional governmental agencies.

While my job took me on a journey far and wide over four decades, my wife Bonnie and I always remained connected to Glynn County with frequent visits to see family and friends. We returned here in 2013 when I retired from the utility business.”

Serving the people of our community.

“I was elected in 2018 as a Commissioner for the Joint Water and Sewer Commission in a county-wide, non-partisan race. My campaign platform included a strong commitment to making it easier to do business with the utility. I also pledged to keep rates stable and develop an affordable 20-year master plan to address future growth.

All of these commitments have been met. Our rates have remained below the consumer price index (CPI), the utility is more customer-focused and the new 20-year plan is projected to cost approximately $100 million less than originally proposed.”

Giving back to Glynn County with common-sense leadership.

“When my longtime friend, Don Hogan, announced that he would not be seeking re-election for House District 179, I made a commitment to devote my time and business experience to give back to the community and people who have given so much to me. That is why I am seeking this office.

I will be a positive voice in the General Assembly and I will always put Glynn County first. I will serve with integrity, and I will be accessible and responsive to your needs. I will protect conservative family values and constitutional rights. I will work closely with fellow legislators to keep Georgia among the top states in the nation for doing business, and I will be a strong advocate for tourism, the Port of Brunswick and protecting our natural resources.

I will fight hard to ensure all of our children receive a quality education and I will work to make healthcare accessible and affordable. I will support seniors and veterans. And I will stand behind law enforcement to ensure there is adequate funding to keep our families safe.

We live in a wonderful place that I am proud to call home. Please be assured that if I have the privilege to serve as your next state representative, I will work tirelessly to get the job done.

Many thanks for your consideration. Your vote and support would be greatly appreciated."
